What is a cardboard baler ?
Cardboard balers are an incredibly useful piece of recycling equipment, which keep premises tidy and turns a cost into a revenue stream.
Cardboard and plastic is used in nearly all packaging and a large proportion of this is not recycled properly and ends up in general waste.
A cardboard and plastic baler compacts a large volume of cardboard or plastic into a smaller area (a bale). This saves money on waste bins, an 1100litre bin full of cardboard or plastic recycling may only weigh 35kg to 65kg and compact bales can be up to 550kg. A bale takes up a lot less space (1 pallet space instead of 28 bins) making the cardboard or plastic much easier and efficient to transport and turning what would have been a bin cost into a saleable bale.
Cardboard is loaded into the machine. There is a press in the baler which moves down to compact the material, retention claws inside the baler hold the compacted material in place, allowing more material to be placed on top. The machine indicates via a bale full light when it is full. The bale is then tied off and the baler will eject the bale onto a pallet. Ready to be recycled.
There are two main types of baler:
Horizontal cardboard balers are for larger heavy use and provide a very efficient throughput.
Vertical balers for cardboard and plastic will suit most businesses eg...,warehouse, retail, factory, packaging, food production, assembly plant.
Balers help to:
- Sort and Recycle
- Avoid fines
- help with mandatory recycling reports
- Reduce storage needs
- turn a cost into a profit
